As I sit in our air conditioning with the girls sleeping and the crazy dog laying outside in the 95ish degree heat (trust me, I've tried getting her to come in..) I can't help but mourn the end of summer as I go back to work tomorrow. It's been a really nice break. Wait, did I just say break? Yes.. but not in the ways most people think of the word "break". I didn't take many naps, get to everything on my "to-do" list or get to relax much, but I did get to spend time with my girls, my husband, my mom, my family and friends. It wasn't my goal to separate myself from work, but that is what ended up happening and I am going to admit it - it was really nice! I was just MOM this summer and I finally felt a little more in control of everything going on in our household. I planned and prepared healthy meals, kept up with laundry, made play dates, spent time with friends, was part of a book club, etc. It was great!
I am hopeful that my few months of "break" are going to make me a better teacher. I'm rejuvenated and ready to get back into my classroom.
But before I do, I thought I'd recap our summer with some pictures. Enjoy!
We went on our first bike ride as a family!
We ate cakepops from Starbucks (and mommy had quite a few iced vanilla lattes!).
We colored and only colored a little on the tile... :)
We played in Nana's backyard a lot!
We read and played with daddy (and celebrated daddy's 2nd father's day!)
We went to 2 family weddings.
We spent a LOT of time with Nana! :)
We rode Uncle Michael's tractor.
We swam in our pool with cousin Alexis.
We had our first trip to the Union.
We visited with grandpa a few times.
We finished our patio!
We had play dates with friends!
We went tubing.
We saw the sunflowers at Pope Farm.
I hope you enjoyed your summer as much as we (I) did and here's hoping for a great fall!
